Ingredients & Preparation Tips

Components of the Dish

Let us consider everything which is needed before we start the cooking part:

  • Ice Cream: 1 quart Any of your favorite flavors (for instance vanilla, chocolate, or any other for your heart’s content)
  • Corn Flakes: 2 cups of crushed corn flakes
  • Flour: 1 cup of flour
  • Eggs: 2 large sized eggs
  • Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • Sugar: 1 tablespoon of sugar; optional, depending if you like sweetness
  • Vegetable Oil: Enough to deep fry the rolled ice cream. For instance, canola oil or any other oil with a high smoke point.

Preparation Tips

  • Choose the Right Ice Cream: For best results, I recommend that you use full fat ice cream. The creamier it is, the better the results. You want a texture that melts nicely in your mouth.
  • Super Freeze: Remove every scoop of ice cream and put them on a baking sheet with putting a parchment paper on top and then put it in a freezer for a minimum of two hours but note that this step is very important so If you did not focus and this was overlooked the ice cream would melt while frying.
  • For the sake of adding extra crisp to the dish crush your corn flakes but note that they should be crushed into fine pieces and still hold some form of solidity. This can easily be done by putting them in a zip lock bag and then rolling through them with a rolling pin.

Step by Step Guide

With the ingredients ready, let’s understand the process of how to make fried ice cream at home.

Step 1: Make the Ice Cream Balls

  1. With an ice cream scoop, carve out a ball that ranges between one and a half inch to two inches in diameter. It is important to understand that if the ice cream ball is rounder it will take longer to cook this is solely based on your observation.
  2. To attain that one desired perfect texture place the ice cream scoops in the freezer for a second time where they can sit for around 2 hours. After this step the ice cream will become firm thus retaining its texture whilst being fried.

Step 2: Prepare the Crumbing Station

  1. Gather the Necessary Ingredients: There are three functioning bowls that you’ll need. Here is how they will be arranged:
    • Bowl 1: Incorporate one cup of flour into this bowl.
    • Bowl 2: Whisk together two large eggs until the consistency is smooth.
    • Bowl 3: Combine 2 cups of crushed corn flakes, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of sugar (if flour is added).
  2. Palteado Elpako: If you were about to skip this step, we recommend that you don’t. The corn flakes coating needs to be the ideal size, so proceed to crush them.

Step 3: Prepare the Coated Ice Cream Balls

  1. Dredge in Flour: In order to coat the dredged ice cream ball dip it in flour. Make sure that it is evenly coated all around.
  2. Egg Drench: Make sure you evenly dip the coated ice cream ball in a whisked mixture of eggs.
  3. Coating with Corn Flakes: Now, put the ball into the crushed corn flakes and press it a bit so that the layer can get better coating. This is where the magic starts!
  4. Continue to Repeat: Now for all the balls coated, follow this process. Then again, delectably, put them onto the baking sheets and stick them on to the freezer for another 30 minutes. This additional freeze helps in sticking the coating during the frying process.

Step 4: Frying of Ice Cream

  1. Oil Temperature: Now, let us heat the oil in the deep fryer or in a heavy bottom pot. Bring it to the temperature of 350 °F (175 °C) Fahrenheit. In order to reach a perfect fry, keep track of the temperature which is essential.
  2. Fry the Ice Cream Now: Now introduce a few of the ice cream walls into the heated oil slowly. Allow them to remain in the oil for around 10-15 seconds till they’re golden brown. For a good fried eye cream, keep track of the time closely since it doesn’t take long to fry.
  3. Remove the Extra Oil: For any excess oil that the fried ice cream has gotten, simply place it on a plate that has paper towels and soak it in there so it can dry up.

Step 5: Serve it up from the Freezer! Together we ride!

  1. Survive it up: It is best to eat the fried ice cream when its warm. I prefer putting chocolate or caramel decidedly on top to give an additional punch of sweetness.
  2. Decoration: You can also add a cherry or whipped cream on the top to give that finishing touch.

Decoration & Presentation Tips

There are rituals and traditions about putting together the presentation of the dish and making sure the end product looks as good as it tastes. Here are a few ways you can make your dessert stand out:

1. Serve in a Bowl

After frying the ice cream, add a touch of souvenirs and chaotically pour caramel or chocolate sauce on the top and serve in a dessert bowl.

2. Add Sprinkles

Sprinkles are always a good idea and a best fit for kids parties. They would clearly enjoy the vibrant colors and the extra texture that is served with the dish.

3. Use Fresh Fruits.

You can also cut/ add strawberries or bananas on the edges of the fried ice cream. This will work as an addition to the massive amount of sweetness the ice cream comes in.

4. Whipped Cream

The addition of whipped cream has its own beauty skill to perfect the dessert as a whole.

5. Chocolate Shavings.

When whipping the cream, adding a touch of chocolate chips or cocoa powder will definitely elevate the taste and give it an exquisite touch.

FAQs

1. Can I use any flavor of ice cream?

Yes, you can! Vanilla though tends to be a safe choice, chocolate, strawberry, or even coffee can be helpful in branching out. You should, however, make sure the flavor matches with the set base of toppings you select.

2. What happens if I fry ice cream for too long?

All good things must come to an end. If you take about 10 to 15 seconds, the ice cream is bound to turn golden brown. It is highly recommended to keep the ice cream balls frozen for a while even before frying.

3.How do I keep the ice cream intact and prevent it from melting when frying?

Your ice cream will not melt if it is well amputated and frozen without any risk before frying it. Shape the ice cream into balls and store them in the freezer for between two to three hours. The bigger aim here is to ensure the colder the ice cream is, the less it will melt during frying which in the end will help in retaining the desired shape. Additionally, make sure to move fast while frying and minimize time of heat exposure.

4.Is it possible to make deep fried ice cream using an air fryer?

Indeed, it is possible! To replace deep frying, all you need to do is simply use an air fryer so as to retain the taste. First, turn the air fryer on to 190 degrees Celsius and allow it to heat up. Breading your ice cream balls and placing them in the air fryer basket are the next steps. From there, eight minutes is a sufficient amount of time as you only want them to turn golden brown. Over time, just keep observing them.
